About the Role
Our Sacramento-area client, a well-established and growing company in the utilities/construction services industry, is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Clerk to join their accounting team on a contract-to-hire basis. This is a full-time, fully onsite role with a high probability of converting to permanent employment after 4-6 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily accounts receivable functions including invoicing, payment posting, and cash applications
- Manage collections on past-due accounts via phone and email (B2B focus)
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing disputes in a timely manner
- Prepare weekly aging reports and assist with month-end close
- Maintain accurate records in QuickBooks Desktop and Excel
- Work closely with project managers and the sales team to ensure proper billing and documentation
- Assist with credit memo processing, adjustments, and customer refunds as needed
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of full-cycle Accounts Receivable experience (construction, utilities, or service-industry experience is a plus)
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop (required)
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
- Proven track record in collections and customer communication
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (not required with strong experience)
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay rate: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour (depending on experience)
- While on contract with Ledgent: weekly pay, access to medical/dental/vision benefits, 401(k), and free CPE courses
- Upon direct hire conversion: full benefits package including health insurance, 401(k) with match, PTO, paid holidays, and potential for annual bonus
Schedule & Location
- Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Fully onsite in Sacramento, CA (free parking provided)
